Can I really rent a car in Tangier with no deposit at all?

No honest agency gives a car with zero guarantee. Real options are: standard card hold of 3000-10000 MAD (free if no damage), or a higher daily rate with zero-excess insurance that lowers the hold to 1000-3000 MAD. “Sans caution” ads usually mean one of these two, or a cash/passport hold you should avoid. Ask for the hold amount in writing before booking.

How much is the deposit for economy vs SUV in Tangier?

Economy 3000-5000 MAD, sedan 4000-6000 MAD, SUV 5000-8000 MAD, luxury/4x4 8000-15000 MAD as pre-authorizations. With full zero-excess cover (100-250 MAD/day), holds often drop to the low end or to a small fuel/key guarantee. L&M CAR states your exact hold with your quote — confirm it on WhatsApp before flying.

Can I use a debit card or cash for the deposit?

Good locals accept debit cards with sufficient balance; many international desks require true credit cards only. Cash holds (3000-10000 MAD with receipt) are sometimes accepted by locals but are slower and less traceable. Prepaid, virtual, or third-party cards are refused. The card must be in the driver's name — bring the physical card.

Does full insurance mean I get my deposit back automatically?

It lowers risk but does not skip process. You still need joint photo inspections, same-to-same fuel, on-time return, and a signed receipt. Tyres, glass, negligence, and late/fuel/fine charges can still be deducted even with full cover. Read exclusions and keep fuel receipts and fine receipts.

How long until my Tangier rental deposit is released?

Moroccan banks 3-7 days, European/UK/US banks 7-14 days after the signed return. It is your bank's timeline, not the agency's charge. Keep the hold slip + return receipt and message the agency if 14 days pass without release — they reissue the release proof for your bank in minutes.
